Achiever awards to recognise local industrialists The Ceylon National Chamber of Industries (CNCI) Achiever of Industrial Excellence' Awards Ceremony will be held on July 16 at the Ceylon Continental Hotel, Colombo. Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapakse will be the Chief Guest and, Minister of Industries, Tourism and Investment Promotion Anura Bandaranaike will be the Guest of Honour. It is expected that this event will be attended by members of the Diplomatic Community, delegations from SAARC Regional countries and the frontline Industrialists and Chamber Representatives in the country. A special feature in the CNCI "Achiever" Awards Scheme is that it recognizes local industrialists who have set up manufacturing units in the SAARC Regional countries on their own or as a joint venture where the Sri Lankan investment is over 50%. Several local companies are vying for honours in this category too. A further notable feature of CNCI 'Achiever" is the recognition of an Industrial Venture in each of the SAARC Regional countries recommended by the respective Chamber in each country based on the same criteria applicable to local industrialists. This facilitation also encourages bilateral co-operation and offers opportunities for business delegations from the SAARC Regional countries to visit Sri Lanka promoting joint ventures. Associated Newspapers Ceylon Ltd (ANCL) continues to offer their exclusive media sponsorship for the event for the third consecutive year. The entry form request published by ANCL in 'Daily News', 'Dinamina' and 'Sunday Observer' was one of the major reasons attributable for the increased number of entries. The MBC/MTV has come forward as the electronic media sponsor for the event, and their popular TV Channels MTV, Sirasa and Shakthi screens the slides while Sirasa and Yes FM announced the event promoting the entries as well. |
