Moors Junior tennis from Aug. 21 to 29

The annual junior ranking tennis singles championships 2004 of Moors Sports Club will be conducted at their Braybrooke Place courts from August 21 to 29.

The events will be for boys and girls under the age groups of 8, 10, 12, 14, 16 and 18.

A competitor may enter for three events. Entries will be accepted at the Moors Sports Club Office till 6.00 p.m. on August 16. The draw will be held on August 18.

Matches in the age groups of 8 and 10 will be first to reach 7 games. When the score is one set all in the other age groups, one tie-break game will be played to decide the match. The no-ad scoring system will operate for all events.

This is a popular tournament especially conducted for juniors, who require experience in tournament play. Last year's main sponsor was Shiran Dissanayake of the ABC Group of Companies.

The co-sponsors R. Renganathan, Director-General Manager, Ceylinco Insurance Company Ltd. , Tilak Meddegoda of United Sports, Anton Godfrey of A.G. International, Thilak Godamanna of the Nine Hearts Group and Harsha de Silva of Phoenix Injection Moulding Ltd.

Attractive trophies will be awarded to the winners and runners-up and certificates of participation to all players.
