Educating public on Condominium Management stressed

Minister Ferial Ashraff stressed the importance of educating the public on the new concept of Condominium Management.

She was addressing the Heads of Institutions coming under the purview of her Ministry recently.

She stated that the new Condominium Management Authority Act provides many benefits to flat dwellers. This is a completely new concept which has been introduced as per an amendment to the Common Amenities Board Act, No. 10 of 1973.

She instructed the Chairman of Condominium Management Authority M. M. Abdul Kalam to hold series of seminars on a broader basis to enlighten the public on condominium management and maintenance.

Kalam stated that he would seek the support and cooperation of both electronic and print media to highlight the rules and regulations on the Condominium Management Authority and educate residents on their rights and duties with regard to Condominium flats and apartments.

At present some Condominium Management Corporations have been established. But many of them do not function to the maximum expectations.

He has emphasized the need of forming more Management Corporations in all flats and apartments to look after the interest of its residents.
