A Rs. 10 million Board of Investment (BOI) project, the Lotus Spa was opened in Colombo last week. The lifestyle Spa specialises in skin care, stress relief and wellness enhancing treatment such as mud plaster therapy, hip-bath, floral-bath, steam-bath and rejuvenation therapy.

The Lotus Spa was inaugurated by Minister of Posts and Telecommunications D. M. Jayaratne who commended investors from Kerala in India for their efforts in promoting longevity among Sri Lankans through Ayurvedic practices.

Director of The Lotus Spa Suresh Kumar said: "The Lotus Spa will be an extraordinary experience that would ease guests away from the commotion of daily life.

In addition, the Lotus Spa has a dedicated retail store which include Herbal Food Supplements, herbal shampoos, conditioners, facial gels and lotions. A wide selection of authentic Ayurvedic medicines including arishtams, oils and pills are also available at this store.

The facilities at the Spa include natural pools for water therapy, Jacuzzis, saunas, treatment rooms, mud baths and aromatherapy. Therapy procedures are carried out by trained professionals, Ayurvedic doctors and paramedical staff in attendance. On offer would be body treatment for rheumatism, skin and sleeping disorders, muscular pains, paralysis, facial palsy, nervous disorders, spondylosis and Parkinson's disease.

The Lotus Spa also offers services such as hair cutting, facial treatment, pimple treatment, manicures, pedicures and bridal packages by qualified beauty consultants.

"The Lotus Spa is for those who enjoy the luxury of being pampered," said Kumar adding that the Spa's target markets are the tourists and the elite who yearn for a complete Spa experience based on traditional Ayurveda.

He said several initiatives have been planned for the membership of the Lotus Spa including free health checks, health related seminars, yoga sessions and discounts on all facilities.
