A new printing school equipped with two modern speedmaster printing machines worth Rs. 35 million was opened by Skills Development, Vocational and Technical Education Minister Piyasena Gamage at the Sri Lanka Vocational Training Authority premises, Narahenpita last week. This is part of the ministry program to stabilise within the country's vocational training sector all resources necessary to produce printers with latest technical know-how to suit the local and foreign job market in the printing sector, a ministry press release said. The release said the ministry has planned to diversify the vocational training sector by launching training courses in respect of all vocational sectors. The Sri Lanka Vocational Training Authority is currently conducting training courses catering to the needs of the modern job market. These courses conducted through vocational training centres countrywide targets more than 25,000 students per year. Students following printing courses will be given a training in these new speedmaster machines after they completed their three months training at the Department of the Government Printer and the Galle Printing Institute. |
