Lahiru and Prasadhi for Athens

18 year old outstanding athlete from Royal College Lahiru Attygalle and Aquatic sports champion from Visakha Vidyalaya Prasadhi Perera have been selected by the National Olympic Committee to represent Sri Lanka at the Olympic Youth Camp to be held in conjunction with the Olympic Games in Athens, Greece from 13th to 26th of August.

Lahiru the young sprinter from Royal College has dominated the 100m and 200m at many inter school championships during the past few years. Last year he won his events at the National School Games by setting up two new meet records.

He has won two medals, a Silver and Bronze respectively in the 200m and 400m at the City School Games held in Islamabad, Pakistan. He also represented Sri Lanka at the World Youth Athletic Championships 2003 held in Canada and was ranked 36th and 52nd in the 200m and 100m respectively.

For his excellent achievements in sports Lahiru was awarded the Royal Crown" in the year of 2003. Lahiru is a 3rd year athletics colours man at Royal College and captained the collage athletic team in 2003.

Prasadhi has excelled in many discipline of sports. She was adjudged the most outstanding athlete at visakha Vidyalaya for the year 2004 and also holds three college athletics records in long and triple jump events.

At the National Swimming, Diving, Synchronised swimming and Water polo championships 2003 she won 2 gold medals in synchronised swimming, 1 gold and 2 silver medals in diving and also helped her school to become national water polo champions at the same meet thus wining gold medals 3 different sports.

Also she has represented Sri Lanka in three sports. She represented the Sri Lankan synchronised swimming team at the 1st Asian Age Group Swimming Championships held in Hong Kong. At the 3rd Asian Age Group Swimming Championships held in Macau China she was placed 4th and 6th in the 3m and 1m spring board diving events respectively and won two diploma certificates.

At the KCR-NAASU Swimming and Diving championships held in Bangalore in 1999 she won two bronze medals in diving. In swimming she was a member of the 4.50 meters Free style relay team which wont he gold medal at the Sri Lanka Schools' - Tamil Nadu swimming meet held in 2002.
