Rs. 9.3 million direct exposure colour printing system For the first time the direct exposure colour printing system has been introduced by Color Wings International (Pvt) Ltd, Colombo 2. According to Poorna Perera, Marketing Manager of the company they have invested Rs. 9.3 million on this venture. He said that the machine was specially imported from Konica Photo Company in Japan. The company has invested 40% of the investment on the venture and the management hopes to break even in three years. The demand for digital photography in Sri Lanka is increasing rapidly and this was one reason for them to invest. He said that even photographs (negatives) taken from 'Still" cameras could be converted into digital prints. "Due to its sharpness and quality many people are now switching to digital photography", he said. He said another advantage would be that pictures could be enlarged without compromising quality. The Konica machine has the lowest wastage of chemicals and it is ideally suited for Sri Lanka. The machine could introduce special effects and hence it would be popular among wedding photographs.
