Electricity for estate houses

On the initiative of the Community Development and Infrastructure Ministry 158 houses in Talawakelle and Dimbulla were provided with electricity, at a cost of Rs. 2,630,900, ADB fund under the scheme of "Providing electricity for estate housing." It was declared open by Minister C. B. Ratnayake, on August 16. Estate workers have been given loan facility by Multipurpose Co-operative Society Rural Bank, Talawakelle to get electricity supply.

At this occasion, Minister Ratnayake stated that it is his sole aim to promote the living standard of Estate workers as they are deprived of almost all of the basic infrastructure facilities and they are struggling with their poverty and poor condition of health and education.
