Expoair to launch Sri Lanka's First Cabin Crew Training Academy With an average increase of 4-5 per cent of air travellers internationally per annum and the certification of many new passenger airlines globally, Expoair has taken steps to launch the first ever Cabin Crew Training Academy in Sri Lanka. The Academy approved by the Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka will be opened on September 13 at the Colombo Airport, Ratmalana. A team of experts in-flight services is In-Charge of the Academy," said Director and CEO of Expoair Sabri Marikar. Airlines have in-house training for their cabin crew. "This Academy will be the only institution in the country that would offer approved Cabin Crew Training. This is an effort to offer the youth to boost their potential by giving them distinct advantage of becoming cabin crew members over others," he said. Director Sales and Marketing Seraj Mohamed, said that Cabin Crew are unique amongst Airline Personnel as they have the responsibilities on board. "The most important responsibility is the safety of passengers, the crew and the aircraft cabin. Any in-flight emergency will require them to transform themselves from amicable ambassadors into assertive leaders responsible for the safety of every person on board the aircraft," he said. The Training Program includes aviation indoctrination, safety and emergency procedures, crew resource management, aviation first aid, aviation security, survival procedures, aircraft documentation, food and beverage, In-Flight Menus and Services and Passenger Handling. The training will cover the specific areas of fire fighting, ditching and evacuation drills and hands on practical on safety equipment," said Mohamed. The duration of the entire training program would be 7 weeks and successful participants will be issued a competency certificate approved by the Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka. Expoair was the first domestic airline approved by the CAA to fly International, to the Maldives. Expoair presently operates 2 flights daily to Jaffna. |
