Arrest warrant on RSI

Colombo Fort Magistrate and Additional District Judge issued a warrant for the arrest of a Reserve Sub Inspector attached to Maligawatta Police station in connection with the robbery of several valuables from a Thai national at gunpoint on Wednesday night.

The Judge issuing the warrant told Police to arrest the RSI immediately and produce him before court.

Earlier, the Judge remanded nine Police personnel including a Sub Inspector attached to a Colombo Division Police station for alleged involvement in the robbery.

According to investigations, the 'armed police gang' had robbed US dollars 1,600 and other valuables from the Thai national while he was returning to the vessel anchored at Colombo harbour from a casino in Colombo.

On an application by Police, the Judge directed the Prison authorities to produce the nine suspects before an identification parade on September 16.

Inspector D.K.D. Hemantha, OIC, CDB, Kolluptiya Police is assisting in the investigations directed by Colombo DIG Sirisena Herath conducted by Colombo Central Senior SP Lucky Dissanayake.
