LTTE expects Mahanayake's intervention for lasting peace by Tennakoon Kulasekera LTTE's Political Wing leader S. P. Tamilchelvam has said the LTTE expects the intervention of the Mahanayake of the Malwatte Chapter to obtain a dignified and lasting peace to Sri Lanka. Addressing a media conference at Kilinochchi on Thursday, he said the LTTE uphold views expressed by the Mahanayake, the Most Ven. Thibbatuwawe Sri Siddhartha Sumangala Thera expressing his willingness to meet and hold discussions with the LTTE. He said although the LTTE was willing to visit the Mahanayake Thera at the official residence in Kandy, the condition in the South prevented the LTTE delegation from doing so. "We appreciate the Mahanayake's concern and his willingness to visit us in Wanni. But we on our part consider that as a lack of respect and hence we respectfully request the Mahanayake to send his delegation and we assure their safety," he said. |
