President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga held a reception for world leaders attending the 59th UN General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, yesterday. Gabon Foreign Minister, Jean Ping who was the elected President of 59th UNGA, US Assistant Secretary of State for South Asia, Christina Rocca and East Timor's Foreign Minister Jose Ramos-Horta were also present. Meanwhile, President Kumaratunga also held talks with Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi yesterday. The President also met Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf, and was scheduled to meet UNDP Administrator Mal- loch Brown, Norwegian Foreign Minister, Jan Peterson and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. |
