Ratnapura special correspondent A student of St. Aloysius College, Ratnapura who came first in the island at the Grade 5 scholarship examination, says if lessons are followed attentively in class, private tuition classes are not necessary. "I am thankful to my class teacher who took great interest in preparing students to face the exam successfully. Thanks to the teacher, 16 students passed the exam," said Anjana Eshan Gamage. This 10-year-old boy from Ratnapura also thanked his parents for their support.
"Follow a time-table regularly and attend to work give at school promptly at home,' Anjana advises students. He also said other than studies, children should also participate in sports. "By adopting this anybody can pass the scholarship exam," he who obtained 192 marks said. Anjana's father is a businessman and mother, a clerk attached to Ratnapura Municipal Council. Aloysius College Principal Upali Jayatissa and Anjana's class teacher Priyanthi Balachandra praised the boy for bringing honour to the school. Teacher Balachandra said Anjana had been her student from Grade 3. She said she saw in him rare talent and helped to develop it. "He is studious and disciplined. He is the first boy in class to solve a problem. He is clever at writing poems and can write a Kavi with meaning on any topic," she said. Meanwhile principal Jayatissa said the school has vacancies for 20 teachers including in primary classes. |
