YESL ideal to benchmark talents of youth by Sudarshana Perera The youth in Sri Lanka should become creative and innovative in their thinking to face the future and the Young Entrepreneurs Sri Lanka Awards (YESL) ceremony provides a good platform to benchmark their talents and creativity said President of the Young Entrepreneurs Sri Lanka, Patrick Amarasinghe. Amarasinghe said that the program would be broadbased to other rural areas and the number of participants next year is expected to increase. "It is the duty of the association to help schoolchildren to exploit their latent talents and the corporate sector will extend its fullest cooperation to recognise the achievers and make school programs a success", he said. "Our program is a successful venture where schoolchildren could identify the areas of talents and excel in a career development program. Nimesha Herath of Musaeus College, Rendezvous company won the award for the Most Outstanding Entrepreneur of the year 2003. Junior Achievement Worldwide (JAW) and Young Entrepreneurs Sri Lanka (YESL) are non profit organisations financed by the Business Foundation and individuals to educate and inspire young children from primary school through high school to understand business and economics. The awards also aim at making them self dependent and job creators in Sri Lanka. Rajma Dilmani, President, Green shadow Ferguson High school, Ratnapura (Girl) was the second runner-up Most outstanding Young Entrepreneur of the year. The Most outstanding Young Entrepreneur of the year (Boy) was Anushka Madhuranga de Silva of Ex-Rich Company, Richman College, Galle. |
