Techno 2004 exhibition, a success by Ramani Kangaraarachchi Techno 2004, the 19th premier engineering and technology exhibition held at the BMICH concluded successfully on Sunday. Over 300,000 visitors shared their knowledge at this largest ever Techno exhibition during the three days. Manager Techno 2004 Malcolm Perera said that the organisers were impressed by the interest of the visitors. This has encouraged the organisers to consider the possibility of taking this to rural areas in a mini exhibition form for the benefit of villagers, Perera said. There were 220 stalls, an increase of 40 stalls compared to last year and we could not meet the high demand for the stalls this time, said the Chairman Organising Committee Engineer Kosala Abeysiriwardana. The exhibition provided a unique opportunity to local and foreign industrialists, manufacturers and suppliers to meet professionals and distributors to promote their products and services in the South and South East Asia market. It was the right exhibition at the right time for all those involved in the fast expanding technology and marketing, he said. The stalls exhibited a large number of products and services in Agricultural and Plantation Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical, Electronics and Mechanical Engineering, Automobile and Construction Industry, IT, Household items, Office equipment and Scientific items. Abeysiriwardena said that of the three categories of stalls eighty-five per cent were occupied by local and international companies and ten per cent by university research organisations. It was significant that five per cent of stalls were given to the Institute of Engineering Sectional Committees to educate the public on different technologies. Three stalls were given to display the inventions of 20 finalists of the inventors of the year (JIT). Two hundred and thirty inventions from 150 schools were displayed where attractive prizes were given to the winners. There were a few technical sessions for the benefit of those interested under the theme "The role of Engineers in the management of effective transportation for economic development." A Biological Waste Water Treatment Plants displayed by Browns Group - Engineering Services Ltd represented the most modern approaches in the waste water treatment field. This system is designed to treat waste water from various sources, connected through simple collection system. It is specially designed for family houses, hotels, municipalities and industrial plants, where there are no sewerage lines. This technical solution is focused on lower investment costs, flexibility and step by step building which can also be used in slaughter houses and the food industry (where there is biological contamination of waste water). Among the advantages of this plant are automatic checking of operation, various possibilities of locating the plant on site, full guarantee and after guarantee service, fully smell free operation, smaller size and low cost of build-up area and treated water suitable for irrigation and recycling for flushing. Construction Solutions Centre (Pvt) Ltd was another innovative stall operating as a construction channelling centre where all the services, related to construction were available under one roof. Starting from land surveying up to financial and legal advisory services real estate sale and purchases, painting, tilling, waterproofing, drafting and plotting were available. Engineers in Polymer Technology, Polymer Products displayed their total solutions of engineering design, compound design, testing laboratory, technical experience and the latest equipment. The Micro Bytech Trading displayed the latest and advanced equipment in telecommunication computer network, fibre optic, audio, video, fire alarm RF cable and accessories at their stall. |
