A five member delegation from the Government of India led by Ranjith Issar, Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Defence held discussions with a team headed by Cyril Herath, Defence Secretary and comprising the Service Chiefs, Senior Official of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Nigel Hatch, President's Counsel in regard to the proposed agreement between the Government of the Republic of India and the Government of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka concerning co-operation in the field of Defence, states a Ministry of Defence press release. The meeting was held at the Ministry of Defence on October 19, Bilateral defence Co-operation in the field of Military Training, exchange of Military Intelligence and Information, maritime Surveillance to prevent illegal activities affecting both countries, official visits and bilateral meetings at different levels, participation in training programs, joint military exercises etc. were discussed among other matters. |
