Lanka's Family Planning campaign lauded by Shirajiv Sirimane The global condom market is only 55 percent and in Sri Lanka this is even lower said Regional Manager Durex condoms Neil Reeves. Speaking at the launch of the Durex condoms in Sri Lanka last week he said this was the reason why they decided to come to Sri Lanka. "The traditional approach of local market towards condoms has changed and Sri Lankans are on the look out for variety in condoms," he said. The Sri Lanka Family Planning campaign has been highly successful and received international commendation. Reeves said that their products are manufactured in the United Kingdom and their products are sold in over 150 countries. "We manufacture over a billion condoms per year and our strongest market is in Europe," he said. The demand for condoms in SriLanka increased after the AIDS threat in the 1980's and today there are four main manufacturers supplying to Sri Lanka. The Family Planning Association controls 70 of the market. "we are aiming at the high end of the market in Sri Lanka since our products have variety and flavour," he said. The company values cultures of different countries and do not use sensitive material to sell our products," he said. The Durex condoms product range would be marketed by the CIC group. |
