Judge Ambepitiya's murder was a revenge killing by drug dealer

The alleged mastermind in the slaying of Colombo High Court Judge Sarath Ambepitiya had vowed revenge against the judge for sending him to remand for threatening a prosecution witness in a murder case where he (the mastermind) was the accused.

Sri Lanka enters into Friendship and Cooperation pact with Iran

Sri Lanka and Iran entered into a Friendship and Cooperation pact in Tehran on November 25 during the two day state visit by President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga. Foreign Minister Lakshman Kadirgamar signed the Agreement on behalf of Sri Lanka, while the Iranian Foreign Minister Kamal Kharazzi signed on behalf of Iran, in the presence of the Presidents of the two countries.

The Most Ven. Thibbotuwawe Sri Siddhartha Sumangala Mahanayake Thera of the Malwatte Maha Vihara Chapter asked Norwegian Ambassador Hans Brattskar, yesterday, why the Norwegian government and the monitoring committee continuously turn a blind eye and deaf ear when the LTTE was resorting to violence which was a serious violation of the Peace Accord they have signed with the government.
