ADB provides Rs.500 m to develop Samurdhi banks by Uditha Kumarasinghe With the remarkable progress achieved by the Samurdhi banks in
alleviating poverty and inculcating the savings habit among low income
groups, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) has granted Rs.500 million to the
Government to upgrade the Samurdhi bank network financially and
technically. CTB to re-open workshops by Rajmi Manatunga The Central Transport Board (CTB) has decided to recommence work at its
workshops which have been closed down due to maladministration. Under the
first phase of the project, the Kaludewala workshop of the CTB will be
renovated and reopened by the end of this month while taking swift
measures to develop other workshops islandwide, CTB Chairman Dr. I.S
Jayaratne said. President greets Amaradewa on 77th b'day Dr. Pandit W. D. Amaradeva celebrated his 77th birthday yesterday.
President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga in a congratulatory message
