by Manjula Fernando The Examinations Department will receive the first reports on the progress of conducting the GCE Ordinary Level examination in flood-hit areas today. Examinations Commissioner Anura Edirisinghe acting on behalf of Commissioner General Mahinda Wijayasiri said officials from Colombo were dispatched to districts worst affected by floods to make a ground evaluation to make arrangements for a fresh exam in January. "We have been instructed by Education Ministry Secretary Dr. Tara de Mel to make arrangements for a fresh exam in early January," he said. Measures have been taken to closely monitor the examination to prevent malpractices in view of the emergency situation in flood-hit areas. The Department has dispatched special teams to Akkaraipattu, Samanthurai, Ampara, Hambantota, Polonnaruwa and Anuradhapura under its exam malpractices prevention strategy. According to the Department, several persons who attempted impersonation have been remanded by police in Matale, Pitadeniya, Sandalankawa and Kegalle. |
