A. M. N. Dilshani, a girl aged two of Pitiyegedara, Puhullwatta, Passara is suffering from a heart disease. Dr. K. Sivakumar, Consultant Paediatric Cardiologist, Apollo Hospital has recommended an urgent surgery which is estimated to cost Rs. 250,000.

Her father A. M. Nishantha says that owing to the current financial plight he is unable to foot this bill and requests whatever assistance from philanthropists remitted to Account No. 0078-207-080761-0, People's Bank, Borella branch.

Seeks 'O' positive kidney

D. G. Aruna (45, Electrical Superintendent, Ceylon Electricity Board) of No. 5, Patabadigedara, Patabendimulla, Ambalangoda is suffering from an acute renal failure. Consultant Nephrologist, Apollo Hospital, Dr. Surjit Somaiya has recommended an urgent kidney transplant to save his life.

Higher education forum

The EduFrance Bureau in Colombo is organising the forum on higher education in France for the sixth consecutive year on December 21 and 22 at the Alliance Francaise de Colombo.

Sri Lankan students hoping to study abroad in graduate and postgraduate levels will have the opportunity to meet representatives of French universities.

This year a special team of lecturers from France will provide information regarding postgraduate studies in engineering, science and technology. The inaugural seminar will be held on December 21 at 9.30 a.m.

Agence EduFrance was established by France's Ministries of National Education and Foreign Affairs, with contributions from the Ministry of Culture and Communication and the Secretariat of State for Foreign Trade.

The Agency's mission is to promote French higher education abroad mainly by facilitating high quality academic experiences in France for international students.

Hakeem meets Solheim

Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC) Leader, Rauff Hakeem met Norwegian Special Peace Envoy Eric Solheim yesterday morning at the Hilton Hotel and held lengthy discussions on the current State of the peace process, party sources said.

He also discussed the problems being encountered by the Muslim community, sources said.

Sanjaya no more at President's office

Working Director of the Development Lotteries Board Sanjaya Siriwardana, when he was appointed to the present post with effect from August 10, 2004 was removed from his earlier post of Field Co-ordinating Officer at the Presidential Secretariat.

Although reports in some media institutes allege that he continued to be a Field Co-ordinating Officer at the Presidential Secretariat he does not hold any posts since August 10, 2004 at the Presidential Secretariat, Presidential Secretariat sources said yesterday.
