by V. T. Raj - our Badulla sports correspondent

Badulla Hockey and Football Club team left Sri Lanka on Monday to participate at the USM/Milo/NST International Hockey tournament which is being held in Penang, Malaysia from December 15-22.

This is the first time a hockey team from Badulla has been invited for this tournament. Incidentally BH & FC is a leading hockey club in Badulla and had produced several men and women national hockey players.

Renu Yapa captained the Sri Lanka women's hockey team. K. P. Keerthiratne who is accompanying the team to Malaysia as coach had represented Sri Lanka and had also been appointed as coach for the Sri Lanka Schools hockey team.

His brother K. P. Dharmaratne is captaining the team and altogether five brothers are representing the club in this tournament. On their way back they are likely to play few friendly hockey matches in Singapore and Thailand.
