Ministry of Finance sets up special relief committee

A special committee has been set up by the Ministry of Finance to co-ordinate relief measures for the people in the affected areas. The public and Government officials can have access to this committee on telephone numbers : 0112-2481519, 0112484512, 0112484640.

Those who want to assist financially could deposit money to the Bank of Ceylon, Taprobane Branch A/C No 07470800004492. Phone 011-2448729 and 011-2484745.


The Ceylon National Chamber of Industries

The Ceylon National Chamber of Industries (CNCI) has appealed to all member companies private sector and individuals to contribute generously in whatever measure they could either in cash or kind to alleviate the suffering of hundreds of thousands of people all over the country who are affected by Sunday's disaster.

Donations may be directed to the CNCI Secretariat at Room No: 20, 1st Floor, Galle Face Court 2, Colombo 3.


The National Chamber of Exporters of Sri Lanka

The National Chamber of Exporters of Sri Lanka has appealed to the public to join hands with them to help the affected. Financial assistance should be by way of Account Payee Cheques in favour of National Chamber of Exporters of Sri Lanka, Account No. 6700207445 Bank of Ceylon, 2nd Kollupitiya Branch.

All other donations could be handed over between 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm at the Chamber office at 160/2, Bauddhaloka Mawatha, Colombo 4 (Tel: 94-11-2503429/2500316/2586569/2507703 Ms. Suneetha Ramanayake).


Orit Apparels donation

Orit Apparels Lanka (Pvt) Ltd has allocated Rs two million in cash for the displaced victims of tidal waves and donated dry rations to the value of Rs. 500,000. In addition medicines to the value of Rs. 100,000 has been donated to the faculty of Medicine, University of Colombo.

1,200 Denim pants worth Rs. 300,000 have also been donated .


Aramex relief for Disaster affected victims

The leading Air Express and Logistics service provider in the Gulf, Middle Eastern region with its branch office in Colombo has offered logistics and delivery support for the disaster affected areas in Sri Lanka and India.

The company in conjunction with the Dubai Based Disaster Resource Network has offered specialised service in disaster management by way of facilitating Aid Agency Air Cargo Movements within the affected regions and inland air transport by chartered flight.

The company has also mobilised its local delivery infrastructure and resources to facilitate the trucking requirements through land routes in the island to the affected areas.
