Special Presidential Media Unit set up

A special Presidential Media Unit has been set up on the directive of President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga to make the National and International Media aware of the situation faced by Sri Lanka in the wake of the tsunami and the reconstruction measures being carried out by the Government.

Additional Presidential Secretary I.H.K. Mahanama will head the Media Unit which would make the media aware of the reconstruction work to be undertaken by the Special Task Forces set up for the purpose.

Presidential media spokesman Harim Pieris would be the official spokesman of the Unit.
