Food provided to tsunami hit districts compiled

The Centre for National Operations (CNO) has compiled all the food assistance provided to the affected districts including the North and East in a distinctive summary.

The food items sent so far include rice, sugar, dhal, wheat flour, milk food, bread and biscuits.

This assistance has been provided from the Ministry of Triple 'R', the Ministry of Social Welfare, the Ministry of Infrastructure Development of the Eastern Province, the World Food Program UNHCR, UNICEF and other international agencies, the Centre said in a release yesterday.

The possibility of there been a shortage of wheat flour was immediately attended to and the Ministry of Consumer Affairs with the CNO initiated the process to obtain the wheat flour from two foreign governments.

Details of the food distribution are available at the cno web site:www.cnosrilanka.org
