A Relief Fund, ISF SAHANA, has been set up by the Industrial Security Foundation (Sri Lanka) Inc., to provide assistance for private security personnel who are victims of the tsunami disaster in Sri Lanka. Private security officers includes those who are employed in security companies/ agencies, and as in-house security in the public and private sector organisations. The relief fund will also extend to children as Sisu Upakara in one of the schools affected, with their basic necessities such as school books, bags, clothing etc. states a press release by the foundation. Although security profession is not recognised as a gainful and self-satisfying employment in the society at large, approx. 75,000 men and women who have chosen the security profession as their career, and most of them are from rural areas and that of the coastal line. It is on record, by the acts of special viligence of some of the security personnel who have been on duty in coastal line hotels, at the time of the Tsunami Disaster, have saved the lives of others and property risking their own lives. Tsunami victimed security personnel are requested to send their details immediately to ISF Secretariat. Employers may also send the details of affected security staff. ISF the corporate body for commercial and industrial security trade appeals to its members. non-member security professionals, security organizations, security equipment suppliers and or agents including the general public to contribute to the ISF Relief Fund. Cheques should be drawn Account Payee in favour of the Industrial Security Foundation (Sri Lanka) Inc., and send to ISF Secretariat, No. 140/5A, Gemunu Mawatha, Nawala Road, Nugegoda. Contributions may also be sent directly to A/c No. 01-6008429 - 01 at Standard and Chartered Bank, Colombo 6 and follow up with a letter to the ISF Secretariat.
