Fresh exam certificates for tsunami victims

The Department of Examinations is making arrangements to issue fresh G.C.E. Ordinary and Advanced Level as well as other examination certificates free of charge to those who had lost those certificates during the tsunami disaster.

People who have lost their educational certificates during the tidal wave disaster need not have any undue fears, said the Education Ministry in a release yesterday.

The release added that the Examination Department would soon make arrangement to issue fresh certificates in place of the lost ones in due course though mobile services or some other scheme.

The release said the 2005 G.C.E. Ordinary Level examination would be held as scheduled.

Candidates sitting this examination who have lost their notes should inform the Education Ministry which would make arrangements to supply them with new sets of notes.

The ministry has also requested that detailed information regarding people connected to the Education field and who have been killed in the tsunami disaster be also supplied to it. Further information could be obtained by contacting 077-3166660.
