Addalaichenai group corr. "Bridges and roads damaged by the tsunami disaster would be completely reconstructed at a cost of Rs. 45.5 million and instructions were given to expedite the construction work and complete them at the earliest to ease the transport problems of the affected people." This was revealed at a top level Road Development Authority's officials meeting chaired by the Deputy Minister of Highways, T. B. Ekanayake at the Ampara District Secretariat held on Sunday. The team consisted of Road Development Authority Chairman, M. B. S. Fernando, General Manager, P. Dayananda, Hanagamuwa Project Chairman, A. Athulwage, Prime Minister's Co-ordinating Secretary, Sachinda Wass Gunawardena and Media Secretary of the Prime Minister's Office and Highway Ministry, Lalith Udesha Mathubawa. District Secretary, H. M. Herath Abeyweera spoke in detail about the tsunami and floods. It was also decided to give special emphasis to the Arugam Bay and the tourist resort of Ullai. Media Secretary to the Prime Minister, Lalith Udesha Mathubanu said that officials from the ADB and WB will be in Sri Lanka to study the situation. |
