He said the 200 tons released to the market was part of a total stock of 10,000 tons ordered from Turkey by his ministry. He said in future his ministry would import 25,000 tons of flour on a monthly basis. Since Cabinet approval had been granted for free import of flour any one would be able to import flour in future. Although there was a great demand among buyers for the first stock of flour imported steps had been taken to supply it direct to bakers among whom there was an urgent 80 percent demand for this commodity. The imported flour would be marketed at Rs. 25 per kilo since it did not entail the Rs. 7.50 payment made by government in the purchase of Prima flour. |
