The Government will commence rebuilding the country, which was struck by the tsunami catastrophe on December 26, from Hambantota on January 19 with the launching of the housing scheme for the homeless, President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga said yesterday.

The Government has decided to grant immediate relief to owners of small and large scale business ventures destroyed by the tsunami tidal wave in the form of support loans upto a maximum of Rs.5 million to help these affected entrepreneurs in the rebuilding task.
