Jinasena family pledges Rs.100 million

The Jinasena family has pledged Rs. 100 million as seed capital for funds that they have established for the West coast and South coast relief and rehabilitation activities, their business partners have also pledged substantial funds.

They are mobilising resources available from well-wishers locally and internationally and anticipate being able to mobilise Rs. 200 million for activities in the Kosgoda area of the west coast and Rs. 500 million for activities in the south coast stretching from Unawatuna to Kamburugamawa.

They have commenced rehabilitation programs in these areas and will concentrate on rebuilding damaged house and building new house, rebuilding and equipping school that have been damaged helping the fishing industry to re-establish itself and helping people to cope with the effect of their traumatic experiences.

They believe that this is the way of celebrating their centenary and would like to urge all people who are in a position to help, to join in helping those who have been so cruelly affected by this tragedy.
