Britain yesterday relaxed travel warnings for its nationals heading to Sri Lanka, rescinding a caution introduced following the December 26 tsunami against all but essential travel to affected areas. "We are no longer advising against all but essential travel to areas affected by the tsunami along Sri Lanka's eastern and southern coasts, and to the southwestern coast south of Kalutara," the Foreign Office in London said in a brief statement. "A number of hotels and resorts on the southern and southwestern coasts have now reopened. "Anyone planning to travel to these areas should check with their tour operators and/or hotel before departing to ensure their hotel is operating normally," it added. - AFP |
