Radio Multikulti will broadcast the show live in Germany, while Radio Deutsche Welle will broadcast the concert live via satellite to the world, said Radio Multikulti producer Lalith Ganhewa. "As broadcasters, we would like to show our solidarity towards the nations affected by the tsunami. On the other hand, we are trying to create more awareness of the tragedy and continue to lend a helping hand," said Ganhewa, a Sri Lankan who has lived in Germany for the past 30 years. The concert will feature prominent artistes who have gained a reputation for a brand of multicultural music which is fast becoming popular around the world. Their music crosses ethnic and cultural barriers and attempts to reach out to a wide cross section of the world's population. Among the performers will be Wu-Wei (China), Ramesh B. Weeratunga (Sri Lanka), Jocelyn B. Smith, (USA/Berlin), Son Doro (Indonesia), Manickam Yogeswaran (Sri Lanka) and Genetic Drugs (Berlin) Ramesh is the son of Sri Lankan music legend Kokiladevi Weeratunga. |
