A senior consultant cardiologist who is attached to the National Hospital, Colombo states that the patient needs an ASD closure surgery urgently. An AMPLATZER device needed for the surgery is not available at the institute of Cardiology and is likely to cost Rs. 240,000 outside. Maheshika's father H.M.P. Hemantha 5th Ela, Yaya 13, Rajangana, kala-Oya, states that he is not in a position to foot this bill and requests for public assistance. Contributions can be sent to account No. 1-023025-0 at Bank of Ceylon Nochchiyagama Branch. ********* Three years RI for heroin possession by Sandasen Marasinghe Colombo High Court Judge Deepali Wijesundara yesterday sentenced a resident of Maradana to three years Rigorous Imprisonment (RI) when he pleaded guilty to the possession and sale of heroin. Seidu Ibrahim, 49, of J. B. Gunasekara Mawatha, Maradana was indicted on two counts for possession of nearly one gram of heroin and selling them on January 26, 1998. He was taken into custody by Maradana Police. |
