COSCO Donates RMB 10 Million to tsunami-Stricken People

On January 5, Capt. Wei Jiafu, President and CEO of COSCO Group and Zhang Fusheng, Executive Vice President of COSCO Group on behalf of COSCO delivered a cheque worth RMB 10 million to Peng Peiyun, Vice Chairperson of the National People's Congress, President of the All-China Women's Federation and President of the Red Cross Society of China. Capt. Wei expresses that the donation is a symbol of hearty care showed by COSCO's 80,000 employees to the people who suffered from the unprecedented disaster caused by Indonesian tsunami.

He also makes a firm pledge that COSCO is all ready to take any immediate action for emergency seaborne transportation support around the clock in case of need.

The donation is said to be the largest amount in terms of value at one time received by the Red Cross Society of China at present throughout the nation.
