President's Office clarifies tsunami aid mechanism


A media communique issued by the Presidential Secretariat expressed concern over UNP Media Spokesman Professor G. L. Peiris' recent statement to say that President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga has stated that not a single cent received as international tsunami aid reached her and described this as a complete distortion of facts.

Relief and recreation travellers from Japan help schools

 

A recent trend in leisure travel in Sri Lanka has been to promote aid and assistance in the on-going relief efforts in the south and east of the island. It is now emerging as a niche market where travellers come into the country with two aims in mind, to help the victims of tsunami, and have a holiday.
