Reconstruction and rehabilitation in the Ampara, Batticaloa and Trincomalee districts in the Government controlled areas is going on apace. A key exception is the Mullaitivu district, which is under LTTE control, North East Provincial Governor Tyronne Fernando told the Daily News yesterday.

Tsunami Art contest in the East

A tsunami art competition among North and East school children was held in the presence of Governor Tyronne Fernando at Shivananda Vidyalayam, Batticaloa recently. The winner was given a return air ticket to Chennai by SriLankan Airlines. This is a painting by a child from an LTTE controlled area in the Mullaitivu District.
