No 'de facto' recognition of LTTE
 

THE Government could sign a deal brokered by Norway with the LTTE to provide a formula for distributing tsunami relief as long as it was not seen as giving the LTTE de facto recognition as a Government, Foreign Minister Lakshman Kadirgamar said.

Top priority for reconstruction
 

THREE months after the worst natural calamity faced by the country, reconstruction of tsunami-hit areas is considered a top priority by the Government. Several projects which have already been started are going ahead as scheduled and will be completed with the given time frame, a Government spokesman said yesterday. The reconstruction drive started from Hambantota.
