The inseparability of rights and duties
THE theme of the inauguration of the Human Rights Bureau is based on
the concept that human rights and duties are derived from human
values. Although we speak and think a fair deal of human rights,
comparatively a lesser amount of interest is shown in application or
in discussion, either on the duties or the values, irrespective of
the fact that the rights are interlinked with the values and duties,
said Judge of the Supreme Court, Justice Dr. Shirani A.
Bandaranayake delivering a speech at the inauguration of the Human
Rights Bureau at the BMICH organised by the Legal Aid Commission
