Grenade hurled at EPDP office falls on police bunker

THE Valachchenai Police is conducting investigations into to the recent bomb attack made on an EPDP office along the Valachchenai-Kalkudah road.

The grenade hurled by two unidentified persons around 9 p.m. on May 4 deflected after striking an electric wire and fell on an adjacent police bunker.

However policemen manning the bunker escaped miraculously without injury. Six policemen had been inside the bunker during the incident.

Acting OIC Valachchenai Police Karunaratne Peramuna said 11 policemen have been deployed at the bunker to provide round the clock security to the EPDP office.
