Five dead, at least 100 missing after ferry capsizes in Bangladesh

FIVE people died Sunday and more than 100 were missing, feared drowned, after a ferry capsized during a cyclone on a river in southern Bangladesh, police said. High winds were hampering rescue efforts at Badnatoli on the Char Kazal River in southern Patuakhali district, about 250 kilometers (150 miles) south of Dhaka, police spokesman Shilamoni Chakma said.

Nicotine vaccine helps smokers quit, study finds

An experimental vaccine against nicotine helped smokers kick the habit, Swiss researchers reported on Saturday. Larger tests are needed but the test of heavy smokers suggested that 40 percent were able to quit smoking for nearly six months after receiving the vaccine, the researchers said.
