Visit of Dr. Lars Dunberg
Dr. Lars Dunberg, founder and International President of Global
Action, a humanitarian organisation based in Colorado Springs, USA, will
visit Sri Lanka from May 15 to 19. He is scheduled to meet with several
government ministers and officials and will travel to Moratuwa and Galle
where the Sri Lanka branch of Global Action has carried out many
projects.
He will open Global Action's free tuition and computer centre and
vocational training centre in Moratuwa and lay the foundation stone to
start building 110 houses for affected families in Moratuwa and Galle.
Global Action recently donated over Rs. 70 million worth hospital and
medical equipment to the Karapitiya hospital through the Minister of
Health, Nutrition and Welfare. Other projects include the provision of
school books to tsunami affected children in Moratuwa, Galle, Wattala,
Trincomalee and Kalmunai, the Micro Enterprise Rehabilitation Project
that assists tsunami-affected people to start their lives afresh, the
maintenance of 10 day-care centres for 500 tsunami affected children in
Galle and a centre for tsunami affected disabled children in Moratuwa.
Global Action works in association with the Ministry of Sports and
Youth Affairs and local government bodies and is headed in Sri Lanka by
