Pathetic story of unfortunate kidney patient

SUB INSPECTOR Sarath Nishantha de Silva, 35, an old boy of St.
Aloysius College Galle and father of two attached to Rathgama police,
has end stage renel disease.
He has undergone renal transplantation twice.
According to Prof. Rizei Shvreef of Colombo National Hospital and Dr.
Surjit Somiah of Apollo Hospitals, Colombo, he needs to undergo thrice a
week maintenance dialysis as a life saving measure.
A third renal transplantation to be held in England would cost nearly
Rs. 60 lakhs. (Rs. 20,000 per week is needed for the dialysis.
His family members seek assistance.

From Italy with love
ITALY has agreed to assist several housing and other development
projects in Sri Lanka. This follows talks Social Services Deputy
Minister S. M. Chandrasena had with Carlo Perin, Chief Minister of the
Ambastar Valley State Council in Italy during his recent tour of Italy
and France.
During his tour Mr. Chandrasena has made several presentations
regarding the tsunami devastation in Sri Lanka and the country's rural
economic development effort.
Beligala Raja Maha Viharaya premises to be declared sacred area

THE vicinity of the Beligala Raja Maha Viharaya in Warakapola will be
shortly declared as sacred area.
Cabinet approval has already been granted, said Minister of Labour
Relations and Foreign Employment, Athauda Seneviratne.
The Minister was speaking at the handing over of a preaching hall to
the temple administration constructed of Rs.500,000 from his
decentralised budget allocations.
Contrary to Buddhist preaching, the country had become a land of all
vices and this state should not be allowed to continue, the Minister
said. |
