Tavita tulagese to coach Kandy SC again
by our Kandy Sports Correspondent
Defending rugby league and knock out champions kandy Sports Club's
official coach West Samoan Tavita 'Laga' Tulagese will arrive in Kandy
on June 3 to take over the coaching of the Kandy team.
This was disclosed to the media by Kandy SC's Chairman of the Rugby
Committee former Trinity College Rugby Lion D. Sivasubramaniam. This
will put an end to the speculation of the arrival of Laga Tulagese in
Kandy as it was reported that he had signed a coaching assignment for a
district side in New Zealand.
Laga the gentle giant is a very popular personality and a legend
among the rugby fans in Kandy not only for his coaching ability but also
for his gentle ways and pleasing disposition.
Laga has been coaching and playing of Kandy for the last couple of
years and has been instrumental in the side winning all the trophies in
the tournaments they participated. A very knowledgeable and robust
player whom the Kandy team looked up to deliver the goods when the chips
were down his fiery play as a forward is unmatched and often slices
through the opponents defence like a enraged 'Rhinozerous'.
In rugby it is always difficult to penetrate the last ten metres or
loss through the opponents defence which is well fortified. But it is
here that Lega has excelled by using his strong and heavy physique to
pound his way over the 'goal line'.
Kandy SC's Rugby Committee Chairman Sivasubramaniam was a happy man
as the presence of Laga will solve most of the coaching problems. But
this year he will not be able to done the Kandy SC jersey as
non-national players are not permitted. But his very presence in the
field is enough to motivate the ruggerites.
In the absence of Laga it was former national ruggerite Indrajith
Bandaranayake who has now hung his boots who handled the coaching and he
did a good job of it. |
