Religious ceremonies to mark President's birthday

PRESIDENT Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga, turns 60 on June 29. To
mark this occasion, a religious ceremony is scheduled to be held at 6.00
p.m. on June 29 at the Sri Maha Bodhi, Anuradhapura.
This ceremony, aimed at invoking the blessings of the sacred Sri Maha
Bodhi on the President, a very long and healthy life and also strength
to overcome all the challenges and hindrances and create a country where
people of all communities can live together unitedly and peacefully,
will be held under the patronage of the Governor, NCP, Dr. Jagath
Balasooriya under the guidance of Ven. Pallegama Sirinivasa Thera, high
priest of North East Malwatte sector and chief incumbent of Atamasthana.
The staff of the Governor's office, NCP, has organised the ceremony.
Many dignitaries including the chief minister, NCP senior public
servants and the high ranking personnel of all the Forces and the police
in the NCP are expected to participate. |
