Prosecution to maintain same charges against Udugampola
 

WHEN the case relating to the raid on the Athurugiriya Millennium City Army safe house came up for hearing before Kandy High Court Judge D.S.C. Lecamvasam yesterday, State Counsel Disna Warnakula informed court that the proserntion would maintain and pursue the charge of divulging State secrets made against the accused SP Kulasiri Udugampola without any alteration.

The State Counsel was responding to the submissions made by the counsel for defence on the previous date which stated that the charge of divulging State secrets made against the accused on the first count was uncertain. Meanwhile, Counsel for defence Ranil Samarasooriya submitted that there was uncertainty about the documents the prosecution hoped to submit to court in connection with this case.

The High Court Judge who ordered defence counsel to look into the matter and make her submissions about it and postponed further hearing for July 27.

Sixty eight witnesses are listed to give evidence in this case filed against the accused on 19 charges.

Kandy UNP MMC Raja Pushpakumara was among the crowd present in Court.
