SLMP lauds PM's nomination as Presidential candidate

THE Sri Lanka Mahajana Party (SLMP) yesterday welcomed the unanimous decision to nominate Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapakse as the SLFP Presidential candidate for the 2006 Presidential Election.

The SLMP also lauded the decision to appoint Minister Anura Bandaranaike as the nominee for the Prime Minister's post.

The SLMP states that the unanimous appointment of Prime Minister Rajapakse from the SLFP representing the PA was a wise decision taken on behalf of the country and its people and that the SLMP would be putting its full weight behind the Presidential election campaign joining the progressive forces of the country.
