New laws to flush out black money


IN a sweeping move to ensure the country's internal financial stability the Government announced yesterday that it would soon bring in new laws to combat money laundering. At the weekly Cabinet briefing yesterday, Spokesman Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva said the relevant memorandum submitted by Finance Minster Dr. Sarath Amunugama was given the green light by Cabinet this week.

SAARC ministers vow to promote regional tourism
 

TOP SAARC tourism leaders yesterday vowed to work collectively to promote regional tourism. Tourism Ministers and the travel and tourism representatives of the SAARC region made this vow at the annual SAARC Tourism Ministers' Summit in Colombo yesterday.

IOC one-day tri-series - a battle of the coaches?
 

ALTHOUGH it maybe too premature to state at this stage, the build up to cricket's 2007 World Cup begins here with the Indian Oil Company (IOC) one-day tri series, which opens under lights at the Rangiri Dambulla Stadium tomorrow when host Sri Lanka take on India in what is expected to be a closely fought out contest.
