DEATHS from India's record monsoon rose to 800 when residents of a Mumbai shantytown stampeded on rumours of a burst dam, police and officials said Friday, as forecasters predicted more heavy rain to come.

Bomb suspected in Indian train blast as death toll rises to 12
 

THE death toll in an explosion on a long distance passenger train in northern India has risen to 12 with authorities suspecting the blast was caused by a bomb, reports said Friday. The explosion ripped through the compartment of the Shramjeevi Express near Jaunpur, 190 Km, east of Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh state on Thursday.
