Tharuna Aruna makes steady progress

THARUNA Aruna II programme which was re-launched by Skills Development, Vocational and Technical Education Minister Piyasena Gamage on February 9, is making a very steady progress.

The program which concentrates on graduates who are passing out afresh from local universities has now passed the 500 placements mark for the year. This is an 80% increase in comparison to the figures during the corresponding period last year.

The 110 placements made in July is the highest to be placed in a single month in the history of the Tharuna Aruna II program according to institute's Chief Executive Officer Sam Stembo.

Nine regional offices have already been established in association with the Chambers of Commerce. District based awareness programs for the privates sector have been conducted in Ratnapura, Kegalle, Colombo, Balangoda, Embilipitiya and Anuradhapura and the program plans to conduct twenty more programs islandwide during the next three months.

The positive response received by Tharuna Aruna II Program, which is at present operating parallel with the Government placements is very encouraging according to CEO.

The institute expresses its gratitude to all those private sector organisations which supported the program and invites others to join in this endeavour of national importance.
